Capcom has found a new way to piss on Mega Man fans.

I honestly don’t know what’s worse, this insult to people who have given Capcom hundreds of dollars and hours of their time over the last decade and more, or those who think it’s funny to add to the insult by saying Mega Man fans should just ‘deal with it’ and that it’s a ‘joke.’

To me, it’s not a joke. It’s extremely hurtful and it furthers my idea to never buy from Capcom again.

Very much this. If anything I think this is more of a friendly continuity nod from Capcom than them “insulting” their fans. Besides, Quirky Boxart Megamen the world over need a little more love.

I thought the ultimate insult was giving Zero an alternate X costume in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. I had no idea it could actually get worse and just how low Capcom would stoop to shit all over their fans.

Almost two years since the last Mega Man game that Mega Man was actually in (10, Zero Collection came out later but he’s not in those) and this is the first playable appearance we get in those two years? Yeah, fuck you, Capcom. You know what you were doing and I’m far from okay with it.

Fuckers.

This is more of a YMMV (your mileage may vary) issue regarding Capcom.  They’ve done some pretty bad (?) things in 2011/early 2012 from a laundry list of blunders spanning 5 years (killing MML3, Capcom Euro blaming the fans for MML3’s demise and backpedaling their statement, UMVC3 releasing not even a year after MVC3’s February release, Capcom turning down Keiji Inafune’s offer to help finish MML3, Dead Rising 2 OTR’s “CHEAT CODES FOR $5”, and before its demise, Capcom’s support for SOPA (followed again by a backpedal of “WE NEITHER SUPPORT NOR CONDEMN SOPA”)), but here… it’s up for interpretation.

Some people can see this as an insult.  How Capcom truly hates the Blue Bomber (who essentially their mascot) to the point where they show off his Bad Box Art persona, and for everyone who begged for Mega Man to at least show up as a cameo in other Capcom titles, this is what they get.

However, in its own way, this bit of news is also funny.  Mainly because when people think Mega Man, they never expect it to be Bad Box Art Mega Man; they either expect X or classic Mega Man.  So this is kind of funny to see.

In the end… it all depends on who you ask.  Remember— they’ve made worse decisions than this, ladies and gentlemen.  All you have to is poke around and see for yourself.

Pretty much what you said Tyler.  I can see this as trying to be a joke.  The reason is, really, just bad timing, imo.  It feels like Capcom is just bullying their MM fans, what with keeping MML3 down and the iOS port of Mega Man X (seriously, the upgrades are DLC?).  When I heard the news, I couldn’t help but feel insulted.  I think this is bad timing on Capcom’s part, when their relationship is pretty rocky right now with their MM fanbase.
